Kitchen Sales Designers

At Howdens, we design, manufacture, sell and fit kitchens. So, it won’t surprise you to learn that our Kitchen Sales Designers are a crucial part of our depot teams. There are Kitchen Sales Designers in all of our depots, which means there are opportunities near you – wherever you live in the UK.

But what exactly does a Kitchen Sales Designer do? Here’s a quick overview of the role and the skills required, as well as the attributes that make a great Kitchen Sales Designer.

The Role

All of our KSDs are depot based. We're a ‘trade only’ business so only sell directly to the builder; however, KSDs will also speak with the end-consumer to understand what they want in their kitchen, their preferred style, etc. KSDs use that information, combined with the measurements of the space, to recommend products and design inspirational kitchens. They do that using computer-aided design (CAD). In summary, the KSD role is made up of sales, kitchen planning and design, and customer service.

Skills and experience

While we can provide training for the design elements of the role, we look for candidates with customer service and sales experience.

Candidates should be able to communicate and present effectively, and be comfortable engaging with members of the public. They should also have a creative flair, be able to generate new ideas and problem-solve. An interest in DIY or interior design is an asset!
